You Can Read and Consume all Books and Videos and Still Get Stuck At the Starting Point

I just had a great conversation with my brother last night. It was profound and awakening. You see, I’ve been leaving with my brother and his family for almost 2 years now. Ever since I came here, he provided me with the tools I could use to enhance, discover and explore more skills. For almost 2 years I’ve been consuming a lot of books, lessons, podcasts, and videos that did actually help me a lot, however, the thing is all these tools and ideas I have I still got no product.

Here’s why I am hesitant to put my ideas into action:

  • Aiming for Perfection.

I am stuck at nothingness because I want my first work to be perfect as possible which is like I’m clowning myself. NEVER AIM FOR PERFECTION especially as a beginner because it will never be. Your consistency in doing your art, product, and work will improve your skills.

  • Does not set priorities.

We all have that moment when we know we have a lot of work to do but end up doing nothing because our mind is too tangled with where to start, what to do first, which should be the last and so we end up cramming at the end of the day. If you have a lot of ideas in mind and want to realize each of it then start with only 1 first. Select the idea that you want to prioritize at the moment and the others will follow. One at a time human.

  • Does not set a goal.

You have to set a goal. If you got no goal with your product then what the fck are you doing? Setting a goal helps you to move forward with the process. You will know that at the end of the day, you have completed a step.

  • I am scared of the outcome.

As a human being, it is normal to be scared. Big risk comes with a big reward said, my brother. Be present with what you are doing right now and let the final outcome decide. So what if it fails? Failing is learning. If you learned something from your first attempt, then do it again a hundred times until you can say that it is enough–spoiler alert, nothing is enough while we are still living.

This doesn’t mean that when you just read books, you don’t move forward because you are. When you read books, watch videos listen to podcasts you get to know facts, perspectives, thoughts, ideas, lessons, and insights but it should not stop there. Make something from it. Apply what you think is right, share, and take advantage of your ideas to make the world a better place.
